"Appeal to the masses and speak to the few" -
High art is fine and nobel but what good is it if it has no audience. You are more than welcome to create any piece of work you like but wouldn't it be nice if everyone had a chance to experience it? Even the deepest most meaningful art you create should appeal to pop sensibilities.
