In 1985, Sting wrote a song called Russians. It was examined the geo-political landscape of the last decade of the cold war and about all he could hope for was that he “Hoped the Russians loved their children too”. It was such a dark time in our history… I couldn’t help but think of that song while I watched this video, and yea, its OBVIOUS they loved their children just as much as we do in “The west”. I often wonder how much political hype we lived under at the time.

Anyway, its a beautiful video… you should watch it.

When you start an FCPX project I always want to get organized early because it makes me think more clearly about how to find things. This is the way I set up my Keyword Collections and organize them into folders.

This revelation was a real breakthru for me when I was learning about FCPX. It really all stems from the fact that between FCP7 and FCPX the good people at Apple decided to COMPLETELY change the meaning of the word “Project”. This short explanation REALLY helped me wrap my head around this.

Maybe this is what user groups used to be but I just think this would be a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Maybe we’ll screen grab it? Maybe we’ll web cast it? Maybe we’ll just hang out and tell stories over food and drink? I don’t know. but I’m looking for local San Francisco/Oakland talent that would want to come and have a low key “hang”. Maybe it’ll end up being the editors version of a “Photo Walk”… who knows.

So… anyone interested? Let me know.

yea yea yea, its not the 3 way color corrector from FCP7 but there are some really cool features in the FCPX color board and color corrector. Color Masks, Shape Masks, Inside and Outside controls. Check out this simple fix on a shot that just needed a little bit of love.
