you know what... it actually NEVER occurred to me that that a "TAB" was considered equal to a "WINDOW" to the OS... I use Command + W all the time in the finder... I use it all the time to close WINDOWS but my gut level reaction is that by using COMMAND + W would close the whole window and not just a tab...
so... yes... COMMAND + W does in fact close TABs, as long as they are the active pane in AE but it doesn't excuse Adobe for putting the "Close Tab" box on the wrong side of the tab..
