Chris Fenwick in FCPX, Final Cut Pro

UPDATE: - The “Pow Wow” ran for about 2.5 hours. From where I sat it was a total success. I never thought there would be as much interest as there seemed to be. I think we had up to 58 viewers at one point and the only reason I did the webcast thing was that a couple of buddies of mine in Oregon and NYC wanted to watch in.

Planetmitch complained a bit about us being too whiney and I won’t argue with him there. We will do this again in a few weeks and I will actually program and plan some stuff. Today was a very freeform discussion and one of the participants, Steve Navrat, had just returned from vacation and hadn’t seen the application at all.

I want to thank all the people for following me today and we’ll keep you up to date for the next broadcast.

OK, I’m trying something totally new here.

I really like getting together with other editors to discuss technique and work flow and with the release of FCPX, I’ve had a lot of friends contact me and ask questions and frankly, I’ve spent a lot of unbillable time this week on the phone… but i’m not complaining its been fun.

This Saturday at Noon I’m doing something completely different. I’m going to have a few editors gather together at the facility I work at in Oakland California, and we are gonna huddle arround a big 46 monitor, (I think FCPX will run at 1920x1080) and we are going to have a full fledged geek session going over the new Final Cut Pro X.

The point is not to defend it, so if you are offended by someone dissing Apple be warned, but also, the point is not to shoot it down so if you can’t look at things objectively you may not want to participate.

I’ve had a couple buddies from across the country ask if they could follow along on Facetime or Skype and I think I’m going to try to make that happen.  I’m setting up a ustream channel to do this and I want to invite anyone else who wants to watch to join in. This will be the farthest thing from a Pro broadcast, really just a bunch of guys sitting around messing with new software.

Watch this page for details. I hope to see you there.
